For which indications is the CRP test suitable?
Respiratory tract infections
In cases of acute lower respiratory tract infections, the CRP test helps to distinguish between bacterial and viral infections. This supports the decision to administer antibiotics or not.
Postoperative monitoring
Monitoring CRP levels after surgery is also an important indication. Persistently high or rising CRP levels may indicate postoperative complications such as wound infections or other inflammatory processes, allowing for early intervention.
Monitoring antibiotic therapy
The rapid CRP test is also suitable for monitoring patients undergoing antibiotic treatment. A decrease in CRP levels indicates treatment effectiveness, while persistently high or rising levels may indicate treatment failure or complications.
