The NADAL® RSV Test is used for quick detection of the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) antigen in nasal or nasopharyngeal irrigation liquid.
The qualitative result can be read after only 10 minutes and additional therapeutic measures can be taken.
The respiratory syncytial virus causes acute diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tracts in all age groups around the world.
Contagion primarily occurs through droplet infection, where the nasal mucosa and conjunctives represent an entry point for the infection. Infected persons can be contagious in as early as one day after becoming infected themselves–even if they are not displaying symptoms.
Contagiousness generally lasts for 3-8 days and subsides within one week.
This can take weeks in immunodeficient, immunosuppressed or newborn patients.
